Terms & Conditions

These are the terms you agree to when you buy a design from BuildingRC. We have tried to write them in plain English rather than legal boilerplate. If anything here is unclear, or seems unfair, please ask us. We would rather explain it than have you agree to something you did not follow. Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

Who we are

BuildingRC is operated by Christine Heger, at Brisvägen 5, 239 42 Falsterbo, Sweden. The store runs at buildingrc.com. For orders, complaints, licence questions, or anything else, email contact@buildingrc.com. We are the seller and your contract is with us.

What we sell

We sell downloadable design files for 3D-printable radio-controlled aircraft: typically printable meshes, editable CAD, build instructions, and recommended print settings. We do not sell aircraft, kits, electronics, or printed parts. You supply the printer, the filament, and everything that goes inside the airframe.

Product pages describe what is in each package, the minimum print bed size, and the expected finished dimensions and weight. Please read them before buying: those figures are how we describe the product, and they are what we are held to.

Ordering

Add what you want to the cart and go to checkout. You need to give us a working email address, because that is where your files go. You do not need an account.

Product listings are an invitation to buy rather than a binding offer. Your order is the offer, and the contract forms when we send you an order confirmation by email. If we cannot fulfil an order, because a listing was wrong or a price was obviously mistaken, we will tell you and refund you in full rather than hold your money.

Please order under your own name and a real email address. If we cannot reach you, we cannot deliver.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in US dollars and include any tax that applies. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay: there are no shipping costs, and we do not add fees at the end. Your bank or card issuer may apply its own currency conversion, which is outside our control.

Payment is handled by Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay where your device supports them. Card details are entered on Stripe's page and never reach our servers. Payment is taken up front, because the product is delivered immediately.

We do not change prices based on who you are or what we know about you. If you need a receipt or invoice for a purchase, email us and we will send one.

Delivery

Delivery is by download. Once payment is confirmed, we email a download link to the address you gave at checkout, normally within a few minutes. If you have an account, the order also appears under your account so you can download it again later.

If nothing arrives, check your spam folder first, then email us and we will resend it. A missing email is not a lost purchase; we have the order on record.

We may update a design after you have bought it, for example to fix a modelling error or improve a part. Where we do, you get the updated files at no cost. We will not take away files you have already bought.

Licence

Buying a design licenses it to you for personal use. It does not transfer ownership of the design. The full terms are on our License Agreement page and are reproduced here in full, so that both documents always say the same thing:

1. What you may use the files for

Buying a design gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own private, non-commercial flying and building. You may print as many copies of the aircraft as you like for yourself.

The licence does not cover use by a company, school, university, club, research institution, or any other organisation, including unpaid use, and including classroom or teaching use. If you want to use a design in any of those settings, get in touch and we will agree separate terms.

2. What you may not do with the files

You may not:

  • Pass the files on to anyone else, whether or not you charge for them.
  • Upload them anywhere others can download them, including model-sharing sites, forums, cloud drives, and chat servers.
  • Include them, in whole or in part, in anything you sell or give away.
  • Sell prints of the designs, or run a business printing them for other people.

The one exception is individual STEP files, covered in clause 4.

3. Changing a design

Modify the designs as much as you want for your own use: scale them, remix them, cut them up, fit them to whatever electronics you have. The result is still covered by this licence, so a modified design stays between you and your workshop unless clause 4 applies.

4. Sharing modified STEP files

Individual STEP files are the exception to clause 2. If you have modified one, you may share that file, provided you credit the original. This covers single component files only. You may not share a full design, a complete file package, or enough parts to reconstruct one.

Credit needs to name BuildingRC as the original author and say where the original came from, without suggesting we endorse your version. Something like:

“Original file created by BuildingRC, available at buildingrc.com. Modified by [Your Name].”

5. Aircraft you print

Aircraft printed from these designs are for your own recreational flying. Please do not set up a business producing or selling them, and do not use them commercially or on behalf of an organisation. If you want to do any of that, contact us about a commercial licence.

6. Who owns the designs

Copyright in the designs and files stays with BuildingRC. You are buying a licence to use them, not the designs themselves. Nothing here takes away rights you have under applicable copyright law, and nothing here is meant to stop you talking about, photographing, or filming aircraft you have built.

If a design is being shared or sold in breach of this licence, we may withdraw that buyer's licence. We will contact you before doing anything else.

Your right to withdraw

As a consumer you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase without giving a reason. Because our files are delivered immediately, we ask you at checkout to confirm that you want them straight away and that you understand this ends your right to withdraw once the download begins. You have to tick that box to complete an order, and we repeat the confirmation in your order email.

If you have not downloaded anything yet, your 14 days still apply and we will refund you in full on request, no reason needed. Even once you have downloaded, we would rather refund a purchase you regret than argue about it. Ask, and we will almost always say yes. The detail is in our Refund and Returns Policy.

If something is wrong

You are entitled to files that match how we described them. If a package is incomplete, corrupt, does not match the product page, or contains a modelling fault that makes it unusable, tell us and we will fix, replace, or refund it. This is separate from the withdrawal right and lasts far longer: under Swedish consumer law you have three years from delivery to raise it, and consumers elsewhere in the EU and EEA keep whatever their own national period is if it is longer. You cannot sign this away, and neither can we. Nothing you agree to at checkout affects it.

Email contact@buildingrc.com with your order number and what went wrong. No particular form or wording is needed. We will respond as quickly as we can and resolve complaints within 14 days.

A print that failed is not automatically a fault in the design. Printers and settings vary enormously. We will still help you work through it.

Accounts

An account is optional and just keeps your purchases in one place. Keep your password to yourself and let us know if you think someone else has got into your account. You can delete your account whenever you like by emailing us, though we have to keep sales records for accounting purposes. See the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend an account that is being used to redistribute files in breach of the licence, or to attack or disrupt the site.

Using our website and content

The text, photographs, renders, and logos on this site belong to us. Please do not copy them for your own commercial use. Ordinary things like linking to us, quoting a line, or posting a photo of an aircraft you built from one of our designs are welcome and need no permission.

Please do not attempt to break, overload, or scrape the site, or use it to distribute anything unlawful.

Safety and liability

Model aircraft can cause injury and damage. You are responsible for building and flying safely, for the airworthiness of anything you print, and for following the aviation and drone rules where you fly, including registration, altitude and distance limits, and any licence your country requires. Our designs are hobby designs and are not certified for commercial, professional, or aviation-regulated use.

We are responsible for supplying files that match our description, and we do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Beyond that, we are not liable for how a printed aircraft is built, maintained, or flown, or for indirect or consequential losses. Where we are liable, this is limited to the amount you paid for the design in question. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the store develops. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published when you bought. Changes are not applied backwards. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Sweden, and the contract is made in English. If you are a consumer in another EU or EEA country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings there.

If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you can refer it to a consumer dispute body in your country. In Sweden that is Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN), at arn.se. We will take part in such proceedings and abide by the outcome. You can also go to court in the ordinary way.
